SERDANG, August 22 – "Make UPM your home for a year," was the message conveyed by the Vice Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Dato' Prof. Dr. Mohd Roslan Sulaiman during the Oath-taking Ceremony for the new Foundation Studies for Agricultural Science (ASPer) students for the 2023/2024 session last night.
He said that ASPer students should make the best use of the space and opportunities available in this university, in addition to achieving good and excellent results during the two semesters before advancing to undergraduate studies.
"ASPer students should aim for at least 3.75 CGPA throughout the year, which is two semesters, to ease their progression to further their studies here," he said.
He also extended his congratulations and commendations to ASPer students who chose UPM as their primary destination for continuing their studies after completing their SPM.
The Director of ASPer, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marina Mohd Top @ Mohd Tah said the foundation in science and agriculture serves as a starting point before the ASPer students embark on their degree programmes.
She assured that they will strive to ensure the welfare of ASPer students is always protected and that the students can utilise the opportunities and spaces here to enhance their personal skills and work diligently for a more secure future.
"At UPM, various channels are provided to assist and guide students so that they can achieve excellence in pursuing their higher education," she said.
Meanwhile, the oath recital was led by Hasif Farhan Hamzah.
